An industrial robot is a robot system used for manufacturing. Industrial robots are automated, programmable and capable of movement on three or more axes.

 

Typical applications of robots include welding, painting, assembly, pick and place for printed circuit boards, packaging and labeling, palletizing, product inspection, and testing; all accomplished with high endurance, speed, and precision. They can assist in material handling.

 

In the year 2015, an estimated 1.64 million industrial robots were in operation worldwide according to International Federation of Robotics (IFR).

RobotiX Architecture

Architecture

The robot arm system integrates the motors, harmonic gearboxes, brakes, feedback devices/sensors, drives and cables into a compact structure.

 

This achieves high precision and flexible automation control in 6-axis of rotation, each with a full 360˚ of movement. The 3 robot arms are desktop or surface mounted system, and have a working range up to a maximum of 1000mm and a working life of 35000 hours.

 

 

Innovative Architecture

This Cobots architecture is based on a 2-joint module. It highly integrates frameless direct drive torque motor, low-voltage DC drive, harmonic drive, brake and so on, which conforms to the compact and flexible feature of a collaborative robot. End of arm connector provide:

The RobotiX OEM has licensed Energid’s Actin® premier control software for its new line of collaborative robots.

 

Actin is an easy-to-use robot control and simulation framework that offers robot manufacturers faster time to market, reduced software development costs, and powerful control with real-time adaptive motion. Actin’s patented control architecture provides smooth, fluid motion for the most complex robotic systems with a simple task-based user interface.

 

Actin® provides 3 layers of safety against robotic collisions: Avoidance; Admittance; and Detection; By sensing the output torque or motor current of back-driveable joints, Actin® can detect collisions and make electric robots collaborative.

 

 

 

Robot Operating System (ROS)

The Robot Operating System (ROS) is a flexible framework for writing robot software. It is a collection of tools, libraries, and conventions that aim to simplify the task of creating complex and robust robot behavior across a wide variety of robotic platforms. From drivers to state-of-the-art algorithms, and with powerful developer tools, ROS has what you need for your next robotics project. And it's all open source.

 

The Elfin robot software package uses ROS extensively. There are many capabilities that are available via ROS messages, services or actions.
